UFO Weekly and a Finish!

Dragon Dreams Magic Summer

I worked on my UFO again on Tuesday night. I had it sitting on my desk all week, to remind myself to stitch on it. Tuesday came and I almost forgot. If Kelly didn't remind the group, I probably would not have stitched on it. I put in another 167 stitches, so that is a total of 328 stitches in two weeks. Not much but I didnt stitch on it until 11 pm until 1 am.
Mill Hill Ornament Kit
Clara, from The Nutcracker Series

I finished the Mill Hill ornament, Clara, from the Nutcracker series. She came out sparkly and pretty. I did have a mixup on the beads but I kept it as is, since there was not much of a difference and it was going on my tree.

Also on Tuesday, I had went to the foot doctor. He cut my toenails. Now my toes are pretty again. My friend and I went to Walmart, and I got myself a new purse and a scarf. I tried to show it off to my brother, but he couldn't care less, men!

Well that is it for now. I will have a new update next week.
Happy Stitching!

A Stitchy Update and other news

Lizzie Kate EEK!

It was been a couple weeks since I post an update. I have one finish, a small Halloween model, which I finished 2 days after Halloween. It is LizzieKate eek! limited edition. It was a small stitch, which I changed some of the colors. It was done with over dyed threads but I did not have all the colors for what the pattern called. I think it came out very good.

Dragon Dreams Summer's Magic
looks like before I added some stitches

Dragon Dream's Summer Magic
After the stitches were added

Yesterday I picked up one of my UFOs, Dragon Dream's Summer's Magic. One of my yahoo groups revived UFO Day. For you non stitching followers, UFO stands for UnFinished Object. I only put in 161 stitches last night. It took me about an hour or so. I added color to the model so it looks a bit brighter.

Prairie Schooler When Witches Go Riding

Before Halloween, I have been stitching Prairie Schooler When Witches Go Riding. I did not finish it in time for this year, and I have to put away for a couple months. This is how far I got on it.
LHN Snowflakes

A few posts ago, I said I started on Little House Needleworks Snowflakes. I did put in some more stitches in it since than, but not much. I did finish stitching the word 'winter'.

Mill Hill Clara, from The Nutcracker series

I have been stitching Mill Hill Nutcracker series, Clara. I started her before my accident in March. I finished all the stitching on her, and started the beading. I am using my tacky bob the first time. I love it so much. I think my problem will be getting off the left overs to put back in the bag when I am done beading. I will figure it out.

Now for other non stitching news. My leg is almost healed, finally. With my leg almost healed, I am planning to take a trip to Texas. Yes, I am definetly going to Texas this time. I plan on leaving Connecticut on December 27 and arrive in Killeen,Texas on December 29. I will be there in time for New Year's Eve. It is the only holiday I do not like but being with friends will make it better. Then my friends are leaving for Disney World by January 2, and I get to watch their 2 cats and dog, and the ferret, if its still there. When they get back, I will have some time with them before I head back home.
My parents are celebrating their 40th anniversary at the end of January, so I will need to be back in time for the event. I am not sure what is quite happening yet, but I do know there will be a little reception type for my parents at the nursing home.

I might have a finish soon. I do have 3 ornaments I need to stitch by the end of the month. Two of them are for exchanges, so I will be busy stitching.

Many hugs to everyone until next time.

2. A Stitched in Time by Monica Ferris finished 10/8/2009
3. Eclispe by Stephanie Meyers
4. Marked by Kristen Cast and P.C Cast
5. The Wedding by Danielle Steel
6. The Accidental Virgin by Valerie Frankel
7. The Nanny by Melissa Nathan finished 10/21/2009
8. Cyber Cinderella by Christina Hopkinson
9. Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella finished 10/5/2009
10. Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult

I finished my fourth book yesterday. It was The Nanny by Melissa Nathan. I liked alot and some of it was very funny and even the conversation was a bit witty. The story is about Jo who moves to London to nanny a family and still tries to maintain her relationship with her boyfriend, which is really ending but Jo is not ready to face it. Of course she falls in love with another guy in London. I am just not sure I like how the author let Jo's best friend really used Jo to get to the boyfriend. It just became very predictable as if I was watching a soap opera show. Now on to my next book, than I will be half way done.

A Giveaway for October

Everybody knows October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. My family and I have been blessed of not having to deal with breast cancer. However, a stitcher in one of my Yahoo groups had just lost her life to cancer yesterday. I hardly knew the woman but it has effected me in the last 24 hours. It is so important to get a mammogram, because it can save your's or a love one's life. As I was reading my friends' blogs, I came across this giveway the stitcher is doing for this month. So I am helping her by posting her giveway on my blog. Here is her link to go to her blog.

Trip to Barnes and Noble

I had went to Barnes and Nobles on Friday, mainly to pick up the Christmas ornament magazine. I do not like Starbucks so I got a pumpkin coffee from Dunkin Donuts and brought it with me to the bookstore. I looked at the magazine and while I was there, I picked up the two books for the book challenge. Now I did not finish reading a book, but I am reading two at the same time. I am keeping one on the kitchen table and read when I am cooking or having something to eat, when noone else is at the table. For Book 9 I am reading Remember Me? from Sophie Kinsella. I love her Shopaholic books and this looked really good. It is about a high maintence career woman who loses her memory of the last 3 years. I have not been able to keep it down. I am almost done with it. The other book, #10, is Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult. I have never read any of her books before but I heard they are good. I almost got My Sister's Keeper, but I was not sure if I wanted to read a book about cancer. I am hoping to have Remember Me? finish and my book at the kitchen table. I am half way through with it and its a mystery, so it is getting really good.

New Finish!

I have another finish. This is the Glory Bee Coffee for Gossip. I used most of the recommended threads except for one. I did not like the color so I used Purple Iris from Gentle Arts for the cups and the word "gossip". The picture came out a bit blurry for some reason. The material I used was Silkweaver's Summer Breeze on 28 count lugana. I love the material. It does remind me of a summer's sky. Now on to a Christmas ornament.

I almost forgot, I did finish one of my books in the book challenge. I read The Chocolate Bridal Bash by JoAnna Carl. It was a good mystery but kind of predictable at couple of places. There are a couple tidbits from the author about chocolate and even a recipe for a chocolate cake. Looks really good but it is a double recipe. I might try it around the holidays, since there lots that happens at that time of the year. A thought came in my head, maybe I can make some cupcakes out of the batter too.

Happy Stitching everyone!

Labor Day and a Find!

Topsy-Turvy Mason

Our family had a BBQ on Labor Day. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and a slight breeze. My father had forgot to check the propane tank for the grill. We had the tank for almost 2 years, and even though it was used on and off, more off than on, it will run out of gas eventually and it did! My uncle went back to his house to get his tank. Dad didn't start grilling after 2:30. My mom was not too happy but we told her we will just pack the food for her. She had to go back to the home and her ride was suppose to pick her up at 4. It was cutting it real close for her. But they end up being late and didn't pick her up after 5. We got an extra hour with her which was nice.

I love baking and I know I am good at, so I like to show off my baking skill with my family. I made a strawberry shortcake from memory. I made this cake once about 5 years ago and it was so easy to remember. I loved how the final results came out after I put the cake together that I had to take a picture of my strawberry shortcake. It was very yummy. I was so happy it came out great.

Dad and Jayden, 7 mos.

I got some pictures of my family. My cousin finally came over with his new baby girl. It only took them 7 months to get her. The little one is named Jayden Amaya and she is the cutest little baby. My cousins were outside and Dad brought Jayden inside so mom could see her. Jayden's mom said she won't cry and likes strangers. A couple minutes after Dad brought her in, Jayden made her mother a liar and gave this huge wail! I got some more pictures of Mason. He is going to be 1 years old at the end ofthis month. Where does the time fly? He is not walking yet but looks like he is ready to take that first step anyday. Of course I got a picture of Anthony. He started kindergarten. It just seems like yesterday he was a baby. Again, its this time keeps going. Dont you just wish you can stopped for a minute or two just to take it all in without time slipping by?

Now for my stitching news. I started a new project, Glory Bee Coffee for Gossip. I dont have pics for it but next time I should be finish with it and you will get a pic. It is a quick stitch for me. I did a little more of LHN Snowflake but not enough yet to show a progress. I am using hand dyed threads so I am making my stitches as I go along so it is a slow progress. As I was cleaning and putting away some stash, I came across Prairie Scholer When Witches Go Flying. One of my friends just started this piece and I knew I had it somewhere. I am going to try to finish it. I took a picture how it looks when I found it. I did add a few stitches since than, again not enough to take a picture of it. Next post I will tell you of a new project I will be starting. I talked enough for now.
I almost forgot to mention my find. I had to go to the post office the other day. On the way back, I decided to go into Goodwill. Sometimes I find something but most times I don't. This time I found a oak frame which is the exact size for The Bookshelf I just finished stitching a couple weeks ago. I only paid $4 for the frame. I was so happy. I do need to clean it it up first. There is a painted picture in the frame but I will do something else with it. I know if I had brought the original frame I wanted for it, it will cost close to $50, if not more. Now I have to do research on frame cleaning and putting needlework into the frame. It will take time but I just know the end results will be gorgeous.

Happy Stitching!

31 August 2009

End of August update

This month was not a good month for stitching for me. I only finished 2 small models and finished off a biscornu for an exchange I was late. I am glad I got a couple of finishes but it is so hard to stitch when one has to lay down most of the day. I am just not able to stitch much to do weekly posts.
My leg did not heal that much this month either. I did got the results on my ultrasound with good and bad results. The bad part my veins are slightly diseased. The good part is they are not badly damaged yet where a procedure needs to be done now. Maybe in the future but not now. The key to healing my leg will be compression wrappings and evaluating my legs.

I finished a SAL I joined with The Phoenix Stitchers yahoo group. The pattern was Dragon Dreams freebie My Treasure. I stitched it on 18 count rose linen. It was very tiny stitching. There is a mistake too but I fudge it so good, no one can tell it is there unless you count the stitches to find the mistake.

I finished the Mill Hill Jingle ornament. Boy, did I make big mistakes on this one. I was suppose to use metallic gold for the jingle bells but I used the DMC thread instead. Some of the red beads are crooked. It seems like the beads did not want to stay put. I started this ornament in April so it was nice to finish it off. I started on another one and hopefully I will get it done in a week or two.

The biscournu I did for Diana in the wXSw group, was the Summer Biscornu by Barbara Ana. It came out bigger than I expected, but Diana loved it. It was stitched on 14 ct peacen aida. I brought the watermelon buttons at WalMart. It gave a very summery look.

I did started a new model, the Little House Needleworks Snowflakes. I just started it and not enough to show, so next time you will get to see a picture. Can you believe it is almost time for Labor Day weekend? I happen to look out my window at 7:50 pm last night and notice it was practically dark outside. Boy, I am not ready for the night to come early.

I hope everyone has a great long weekend coming up. I will be meeting my new cousin at our picnic and hopefully I will have pics of her and the rest of the family who decides to come.

Happy Stitching!

3 Finishes!

July just flew by! And I didn't do anything special. I have been taking care of my leg and finally went to the Wound Care Center. Now I will be going every week to get it clean. This past Friday I went for an ultra sound for my leg. The doctor wants to see how my veins are working. I won't get the results until Thursday. The doctor and the nurses are saying it is healing, but for me, not fast enough. I didn't want to spend my summer with my leg up and that is what happened this year.

I do have a few finishes. I finished Little House Needleworks The Bookshelf. I want to frame this one but I think I might have to get it done professionally. The size is a little odd and it will be hard to find a frame for its siz
e.

I finished a ornament from the Christmas preview Just Cross Stitch magazine. Thanks Deborah for the magazine! It is a Glory Bee designed called Dec 25. It was stitched on French Vanilla 14 count aida from Sassy's Fabbys. I just love her hand dyed fabbys. I just need a star button to put on it so I can finish it off.

The last finish I have is Seize the Day from Forever in My Heart. I used Silkweaver's Grape Ripple 28 count cashel linen. It is for a friend and I shouldn't be showing it on my blog yet because she sometimes reads my blog. But I just love the colors in this pattern. I used Cresent Colors threads and it came out awesome.

Thanks for reading my blog.
Have many stitches until next time.

Back Finally!

Glazed Fruit Salad
recipe from Debra S

I got this Glazed Fruit Salad from Debra S's blog. I made it for Memorial Day and it was a huge hit. It was requested again for the 4th of July picnic. The second time it came out a little different. The glaze was not as thick. I don't think I cooked it long enough to get the thickness. It is more like a juice but it is still delicious. Thank you Debra for the recipe.

The next two pictures are the projects I was stitching while I was in the hospital.

Mill Hill Haunted House
on 32ct Picture This Plus DaVinci Linen

Little House Needleworks Bookshelf
update #3

For those who didn't know, I has in the hospital practically for the month of June. Apparently I got pneumonia. I have no idea how I got that but I was so sick for the first week. They put a center line (an IV in a major vein) in my arm which end up to be a very good thing. They no longer had to poke needles in me. For awhile my tests was saying one thing and my body was saying something else, which got my pulumory doctor worried but the tests finally caught up and he was relieved. Then he send me to Gaylord Hospital which I end up being there for 2 weeks.

I was home in time for the 4th of July picnic. Mom came home for the day too. It was a small picnic again but very fun. Dad had to work at the bar in the evening, so no fireworks this year. With the Nascar race on and at Daytona too, I watched the race instead of the fireworks.

I have some more pictures in my family album, from the Memorial Day picnic. My batteries died and I didn't get more in time for the 4th. The link to my album is here.
Most of them are pictures of Mason. He is 10 months old already and crawling all over the place.

I hope to be posting more.
Many stitches to stitch until next time.

Stash Mail!

WOW!!!
Around 12 noon, my front doorbell rang. I am thinking who was at the door, and it was the UPS man. He had a huge box for me from Port Orange, Florida. I knew immediately it was from my friend. He works for a Goodwill store and he came across a pile of cross stitch stash. I was in stash heaven this afternoon. There were patterns, mostly teddy bears and couple Paula Vaughn, and material, a couple good size pieces. However, there was a sweat shirt and a sweater with started patterns. The patterns were not in the box. I have no idea what to do with them. I might try to take out the stitches of one of them but the other is pretty huge and look like it was almost done. I never took out stitching with a waste canvas before. Any hints how to do it will be helpful.
My aunt and uncle from Cape Cod was in Connecticut this past week. They took me out for dinner for my birthday. We went to The Olive Garden. Since I am trying to keep my sugar levels down, I got a diet coke and a water. My aunts order a Raspberry Creme soda which I took a sip, oh my god, it was to die for, but I stayed with my diet soda. They also gave me a $50.00 debit gift card. Do I hear more stash calling to me?

A LHN Finish

I finished Little House Needlework Liberty and Justice. I am going to finish it as a pinkeep but right now I am on a stitching groove. She was stitched on Silkweaver's Cascade. Both the pattern and fabric came from my Secret Sister last week. I did change one color. The blue I was to use was suppose to be a Green-Gray color. With the blue backround, the gray was really showing up and didnt look like the blueish color. So I switched it for Antique Blue. I like how it came out.
I went to visit my Mom on Easter Sunday. I brought my camera with me and took the picture of the watermelon angel I made for Mom for Christmas. My mom loves it and says she gets lots of compliments for it.
I brought a few EZCombs from the television commercials. I got them the other day. First I had trouble putting them in my hair and thought I would have to return them. Then I got the hang of them and I love them. I would recommend them for everyone. I post a picture of me using the silver one. I also got the bronze and a black one.

11 April 2009

New stash and a late finish

This was a good week when it came to getting new stash. I got my package from my partner for the Floss and Needle exchange in the ILCS group. She send me 6 Carrie's Creation Threads in Aurora, Bubblegum, Clouds in the Sky, Coral Reef, Gold Glow, and Mardi Gras with a package of platinum needles. Thank you so much Katie. It was kind of funny because I am a birthday club and packages are coming in. Katie ordered it from Wasatch Needlearts and my first thought it was a gift, which I didnt want to open until my birthday. I question the birthday club, plus when I send my package I notice the postage was the same price, so I opened it on Friday.

Saturday on got a package from my Secret Sister. She is outdoing herself and spoiling me. She send me Little House Needleworks Liberty and Justice with the floss, Brittercup Designs Britty Kitty Monthly series
(March/April) with floss, Silkweaver Cashel linen 'Casade' fabric, and a Bead nabber. I never used one considering I like working with beads. I cant wait to used it. Thank you!

Thank everyone who send comments of recovering quickly from my fall. I am doing so much better. My eye is almost healed and I am done taking the antibotics I was given. Since than I have not been so tired and have more energy. Matter of fact I cooked a lasagna last night. However, my leg does have a couple of wounds. A nurse is coming a few times a week to change it. All of your prayers and postive thoughts are working and I appreciate every single one of them.

I do have a finish, a late one but its a finish. It is my March ornament. It is Peace by My Big Toe Designs in the 2008 JCS Christmas magazine. It will be finished as a pinkeep ornament but I need a few supplies for it.

Until next time!

03 April 2009

Texas is delayed!

March 31st was my big day, to leave Connecticut to visit my friends in Texas. Well, I only got as far as New York City. When I got there, the bus driver called for someone to help with my baggage. I had, maybe, a tad too much. The young man came and I told him where I was going and he said follow him. We walked to an escalator and went up, walked some more, and got to another escalator, going down. For those who dont know me, I had a walker with me. The man said we were going down. I went to step on the escalator. This is where my walker got away from me, and I follow the walker, head first, down the moving stairs.
The escalator stopped and help came immediately. I was bleeding from a cut above my eye and my lips. I wish that is the end of my injuries, but I have a few more. I went to St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan and stayed there over night. They gave me a cat scan. Apparently I do have a small fracture right below my left eye. The doctor was thinking of surgery but after more examining my eye, she ruled it out. My next problem is how do I get home. Between with the help of my dad's company, the social worker and the doctor, an ambulance was sent to come pick me up to bring me home. I was home on Wednesday night.
I had to go to my eye doctor's the next morning. I have a cut in my eye and it is very red. It looks like some one gave a black eye. It is so ugly. I went to see my doctor the next day. My other injuries is my right arm is all black and blue and some internal bruising on my right side. I have a abrasion on my left leg. Since I have problems with my legs, it will be watched very carefully. My lip, on my left side, is also bruised and I lost a couple of teeth. Yuck!
I will reschedule my trip to Texas when I am heal. I am just taking it easy. I am starting to have stitching withdrawals since I haven't stitched all week. I could see okay so I will be stitching this weekend.

23 March 2009

2 Block Swaps done and an exchange

I finished my March and April block swap. March theme was Easter (nonreligious). I found this cute bunny in her Easter dress. I had to stitch her. The pattern came from Donna Kooler's 555 Fabulous Cross Stitch Patterns. As I was looking for my pattern last month (Little Bo Beep), I came across some sheep which is April's theme. The sheep was really quick with only 4 colors.
I got this wonderful exchange from Shelley in CA. It was Color the World, and the partner send stash and/or nonstash with your favorite colors. She send me a note pad, sticky notes, a mini journal and mini photo album, WDW Union blue and Peiria Purple threads, 3 mini ribbons, and a #88 National Guard car, which is driven by my favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. It is my second car. My friend Rich got me an Amp car last July when he was in Connecticut. I love everything and I think the journal will be fill soon with my trip to Texas. Thank you Shelley!

I have one more update. I have been working on The Bookshelf this weekend. I stayed up until 1 am last night stitching. I just got a groove on the stitching and had to continue for a while. I still have to do my Christmas ornament this month. I am really not in the mood to do it yet. Maybe I will in the next few days, because March is almost over. I leave next Tuesday for Texas! Hooray! I am getting really excited.

Until next time. Have a great week everyone!

Fresh From the Snaps!

I finished stitching the baby sampler for Mason. I am sorry it is a poor photo. The material just got off the qsnaps. It will be going into a frame, hopefully this weekend. I got my bus tickets for Texas. Hooray! I order some new clothes too for my trip. I did need them but I should get rid of the old ones when I get back.

The pictures below is a package from my new Secret Sister in the ILCSing Yahoo group. It is all patriotic which I love so much. There is adorable Patriotic Flip Flop that sparkles. Everything came into a red and blue pencil pocket case. Thank you so much Secret Sister. You are spoiling me already.
