Happy Dance!!!!

Dragon Dreams Summer Magic
28 count Natural Jobelan
DMC floss and Rayon

It is finished!!! It is time for the Happy Dance.  I finished Dragon Dreams Summer's Magic a couple hours ago. I was hoping to finish it during last night during the Oscars, but there was alot of back stitching and the wording.  I started it in August 2007 while I was recuperating from a respiratory failure.  Then other projects and exchanges got in the way, so I was going back and forth on the dragons and it is not a huge project.  I am so happy it is done. This also means I completed one of my ufo's.  Now on  to Lavender Blue. I need to finish Parts 1and 2 while I watch the Daytona race tonight, if they don't delay it again.  I am thinking maybe Mother Nature got mad at Nascar for starting the season a week  later, lol lol.

Small Finish and DD update

I got bit by the stitching bug last night.  I had finished my LHN ornament before 10 pm. American Idol was still on.  This is LHN All Dolled Up Peppermint Twist from her 2010 collection, stitched on 28 count Rosewood lugana, using DMC threads and a button. I love this ornament and the colors.  Since I was done by 10 and Top Chef was starting soon, I needed to find something else to stitch. I was going to do The Chocolate Shoppe but than I remember my Dragon Dreams.  I took that out and end up staying up finishing the dragon and the shovel. I just need to do the sand, wording, and back stitching.  With the races starting this weekend, I just might have a finish to show on Monday.  Lets hope so.  Here is  the picture.

I had put my blog on moderation, since Blogger changed their security words system.  I don't like it and there are a lot of people reading those words. I hoped I had turn off the security words and if I did not, please let me know, I will try to fix it as soon  as I can.

If you watched the Daytona race this Sunday, it is going be so excited.  I am rooting for my driver, Dale Jr to win this year.  Go Jr!!  Than the Oscars are on right after that.  First the speeding cars and then the red carpet comes out.

Have a great weekend!

Hugs
Vicky

Halloween House update and exchanges

Dragon Dreams Summer Magic

Most of you know I have been stitching on one of my UFOs, Dragon Dreams and I was able to backstitch the first half of the design. It really made it pop!  I was done on Wednesday night and I had started the other half too.  Not much is done but I will be back stitching it today.  Thursday I needed a break so I started on Peppermint Twist by Little House.  The picture above is what I accomplished. I think every Thursday, I will be stitching on a Christmas related piece.
This is week 2 on my Halloween House SAL. I, also, stitched it on Saturday.   I just didn't want  to put it away for another week yet. You can barely see the ghost by the green roof, except for the tail.  I am not  sure how much I will get done next Friday.  I will be packing to head back home to cold Connecticut.

This is my friend's Christmas tree. I love it and it is so pretty.  It is still up, lol.
A journal and a  day book from Vickie H for the 12 Days of Christmas exchange. The  Jane Austen daybook came from England and so far I am writing in it everyday.
More gifts:  a scissors fob with a crown at the end, metallic threads, 3 pieces of material: purple,  green and cream with gold speckles, and a few ornament kits with the threads, patterns from JCS 2011 magazine and material.

The last two days I had opened 2 kits: Lizzie Kate Boxer Summer and Sunset Bag Ladies.  It is a kitty pattern and I love it.  Not sure when I will get to it.   The last pictures are the pets, Zoey and Sammy.

Isn't she a little princess sleeping on the pillow, which is  the perfect size for her.

Sammy

Many hugs,
Vicky

Snow and more Snow!

Snow! It is becoming the nasty 4 letter word no one wants to say anymore. We have over 30 inches and more is coming. Yuck! I took some pictures from my side door. Later in the afternoon the stuff turned into ice and I saw one of my neighbors go sliding down the street.

This stop sign is in middle of a huge pile of snow. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger. In the backround, can you see the the height of the snow on the sidewalk? It a little hard to see.
This is why, I cant open the door! The snow is pack against the door and I had to take the pictures through the glass door. Here is another picture.

I have been stitching on Lizzie Kate Cat Lessons for People for a friend's birthday. I hope to have it done so I can finish it off and send out to him.

I did work on my Dragon UFO piece last week. I put in another 368 stitches. I could see the difference from last week. I will be working on it on Wednesday during American Idol. I dont have to pay too much attention and just listen to the people trying to get in. I already have a couple of favorites. One sings just like Josh Turner and the other like an angel.
I did start stitching LHN Under the Tree. It is an ornament I wanted to finish in January. I have a couple exchanges to do and a couple gifts before I can go back to it. Probably in March, when I am in Virginia. I understand they dont have snow but I could be wrong, at least, not by Newport News as of last Saturday.
Thank you so much for stopping by. If I can get to Joanne's this coming week. I will be doing a giveaway on a LHN pattern. That is the only hint you will get until I post it.

Many stitches to you,
Vicky

UFO is back!

I decided to pick up an UFO (UnFinished Object) to work on once a week. I am working on Dragon Dreams Summer Magic, again. To refresh your memories, I started working on DD in 2007 and I put aside for some reason, probably exchanges got in the way. One of my groups brought back UFO Tuesday in late 2009 and I put more stitches into it. When I went to Texas for a month last year, I brought DD with me, with intentions to work on it, and I did put in a few stitches on my first night there. The lighting was not great, so I put away and I didnt touch it for a year. This Tuesday I worked on it and put in 160 stitches, not much, but it is a little closer to the finish. I did work on it on Wednesday, but I end up unstitching the stitches. I used the wrong color for the symbol I was using. So I frogged it and put back in my basket for next week. Here it is before I added more stitches:

Here it looks now:

I joined the TUSAL for this year. Now I am collecting my end pieces of my threads, or orts. Now, maybe, I wont have them on my clothes or all over my desk. It is amazing where I find these small pieces of threads. Here is my first picture and jar.

Here is an update of Country Cottages Needleworks The Book Store. It has a roof now.

Earlier this week, I got a wonderful package from my friend Vickie H in AR. Vickie has been stitching a huge model called Historical fashion Figures. It took her over two years to complete it. I fell in love with her pattern and told her I would love to stitch this piece too. Vickie send me the pattern as a gift and you can see it here. I have to start this piece as soon as I get a yard of evenweave. Yup, the project goes on a yard of material. Thank you so much Vickie!

I want to thank Sandy R for my gifts for 12 Days of Christmas exchange. On the 11th Day, I got a piece of blue 14 count aida and on the 12th Day was a piece of beige linen, I think it is 32 count but not sure. Thank you Sandy and I love every single gift.

I will end this post until next time.
Take care, Vicky

UFO Weekly and a Finish!

Dragon Dreams Magic Summer

I worked on my UFO again on Tuesday night. I had it sitting on my desk all week, to remind myself to stitch on it. Tuesday came and I almost forgot. If Kelly didn't remind the group, I probably would not have stitched on it. I put in another 167 stitches, so that is a total of 328 stitches in two weeks. Not much but I didnt stitch on it until 11 pm until 1 am.
Mill Hill Ornament Kit
Clara, from The Nutcracker Series

I finished the Mill Hill ornament, Clara, from the Nutcracker series. She came out sparkly and pretty. I did have a mixup on the beads but I kept it as is, since there was not much of a difference and it was going on my tree.

Also on Tuesday, I had went to the foot doctor. He cut my toenails. Now my toes are pretty again. My friend and I went to Walmart, and I got myself a new purse and a scarf. I tried to show it off to my brother, but he couldn't care less, men!

Well that is it for now. I will have a new update next week.
Happy Stitching!

A Stitchy Update and other news

Lizzie Kate EEK!

It was been a couple weeks since I post an update. I have one finish, a small Halloween model, which I finished 2 days after Halloween. It is LizzieKate eek! limited edition. It was a small stitch, which I changed some of the colors. It was done with over dyed threads but I did not have all the colors for what the pattern called. I think it came out very good.

Dragon Dreams Summer's Magic
looks like before I added some stitches

Dragon Dream's Summer Magic
After the stitches were added

Yesterday I picked up one of my UFOs, Dragon Dream's Summer's Magic. One of my yahoo groups revived UFO Day. For you non stitching followers, UFO stands for UnFinished Object. I only put in 161 stitches last night. It took me about an hour or so. I added color to the model so it looks a bit brighter.

Prairie Schooler When Witches Go Riding

Before Halloween, I have been stitching Prairie Schooler When Witches Go Riding. I did not finish it in time for this year, and I have to put away for a couple months. This is how far I got on it.
LHN Snowflakes

A few posts ago, I said I started on Little House Needleworks Snowflakes. I did put in some more stitches in it since than, but not much. I did finish stitching the word 'winter'.

Mill Hill Clara, from The Nutcracker series

I have been stitching Mill Hill Nutcracker series, Clara. I started her before my accident in March. I finished all the stitching on her, and started the beading. I am using my tacky bob the first time. I love it so much. I think my problem will be getting off the left overs to put back in the bag when I am done beading. I will figure it out.

Now for other non stitching news. My leg is almost healed, finally. With my leg almost healed, I am planning to take a trip to Texas. Yes, I am definetly going to Texas this time. I plan on leaving Connecticut on December 27 and arrive in Killeen,Texas on December 29. I will be there in time for New Year's Eve. It is the only holiday I do not like but being with friends will make it better. Then my friends are leaving for Disney World by January 2, and I get to watch their 2 cats and dog, and the ferret, if its still there. When they get back, I will have some time with them before I head back home.
My parents are celebrating their 40th anniversary at the end of January, so I will need to be back in time for the event. I am not sure what is quite happening yet, but I do know there will be a little reception type for my parents at the nursing home.

I might have a finish soon. I do have 3 ornaments I need to stitch by the end of the month. Two of them are for exchanges, so I will be busy stitching.

Many hugs to everyone until next time.
