Last of Starts, YOTA and Snow!

I did not start 31 projects for Debbie's Ultimate Crazy Challenge but I did come close with 26 new starts. I am not sure how I missed 5, but I do know when I do this next year, I will be a bit more organized.   Now my job is to get some finishes. Here are the last 5 new starts:

Lizzie Kate Boxer Cinderella is Proof
 LHN The Farmer's Daughter
The picture is side ways.
 LHN Calendar Girls September

 LHN Calendar Girls December
I have completed LHN Calendar Girls January, February and March last year and I have April almost 2/3rds is almost done.  I have not start November.  The lettering is in 3 colors, so I might find an Autumn variegated thread to do the lettering.

I have been stitching on Angie's SAL. Fleurs de Ciel.  I am almost done with the second flower.  I hope to have it done tonight and maybe start on the third one.  I need to have Part one done by March 10.  So Fleurs will be my main focus until I get the part done.

I do not have a progress on my YOTA SAL.  YOTA is being hosted by Pulled the Other Thread.  I read on one of the other blogs that the stitcher stitches on her piece for 30 minutes a day.  I will try to do that myself, because it is a good idea and I do want to get some of my UFOs done. Hopefully I will have a progress report on March 7.

It has been snowing so badly here in my world! The last 2 Mondays, my classes have been cancelled due to these snowstorms.  First was a blizzard and the govern put a travel ban on Connecticut highways.  The second storm gave us another 10 inches.  Tonight we are getting another storm and it won't be stopping until late Monday night.  They are predicting another 10 inches with this storm.  I may have tomorrow off too but I won't find out until 5:30 in the morning.  I know I will have to make up the days soon and they will be on a Friday or Saturday.  My teacher thinks most likely on a Saturday.  School on a Saturday! Boy, that will be so weird! Here is some pictures of the lovely white stuff.

It was snowing on one of the last 2 snowstorms when I took the pictures.  I believe it was just starting.

This pile of snow is right outside my kitchen window.  My window is above the kitchen sick. So that pile is very huge!
The snow on the left side of my patio.
A view when I am looking straight ahead from the patio door.
This is from the right side of the patio.  Another big pile in the corner.

Thank you so much for stopping by and looking at my blog.

Until next time,
Vicky

More starts!

I felt like Fred Flintstone last night.  I was house and dog sitting for my sister this weekend.  I had went to check the mail. She has a closed porch so I closed the door behind me.  I was being cautious because I didn't want the dog run out the front door but I didn't pay attention to the lock.  Imagine my surprise when I found out I was locked out.  I knew I locked the back door because it was dark.  I had no choice but go next door to ask for help with no shoes or jacket. I walked next door in slush and puddles in my socks. The neighbors got their son to come and he went through the kitchen window.  The whole thing last about 45 minutes. The poor dog was scared because I disappeared and hid on under the bed. Poor puppy! Next time I will pay attention to the lock.

Here is my new starts for Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge.

 LHN Calendar Girls May
 LHN Calendar Girls July
  LHN Calendar Girls August
 Mirabilia Lady of the Flag
Vee and Co Summer in the USA
 LHN Autumn Band Sampler
CCN Dear Santa

This is Angie's SAL I had started.  I will be working on this more.

We are getting a blizzard this week, matter fact starting on Monday.  I hope I can get to school on Wednesday okay.  I don't think I will have school on Tuesday.

Thank you for stopping by.  I will be back next week.

Hugs, Vicky

First term over and One year Anniversary!

I survived my first set of final exams.  Two more sets of finals (terms) and I graduate. I passed and did alright.  One exam I aced but I do not know my score yet.  I did get a 87 on my Anatomy exam and my final grade is 94.  I got an A in First Aid and CPR, plus I am certified for CPR now too.  Monday starts the new term.  I am looking forward to a fresh start.

I did not stitch every day this past week because I was studying for the exams.  I did catch up on my new starts for Debbie's Ultimately Crazy Stitching Challenge on yesterday.  The following pictures are 7 new starts.

This is me on January 14, 2014

Me on January 16, 2015.

I went to the see the nurse from the surgeon's office.  I celebrated my first surgery anniversary.  I had lost 70 pounds this past year.  I am very proud in what I had accomplished.  My life changed so much this past year and all for the better.  I have more energy and I do not mind going for walks or doing chores.  I like doing them now because I do not get so tired very quickly.  I can do stuff.  I love to go walking and I will continue to do so when the weather is a little warmer.  I know I could have done better.  I can make a whole bunch of excuses but in the end, it was me who made those wrong choices.  I am being hard on my self and have been told that many times, but I am the only one I answered too.  I am the one that I have to take of so I can live a long life.  Before my surgery, I was heading to an early death. Now, there is big chance I can live a longer life and do more traveling and exploring this world I want to do. I need to loose more weight to enjoy these activities.  I won't loose the weight if I continue to make the wrong choices.  I would never regret having this surgery because I am living a life now and before I wasn't and for that I will always be grateful.

I will be back next week with more starts.

Hugs,
Vicky

Stitch From Stash April Report

It is time for the April report, since it is due on the 28th and I waited last minute again.  I went over my budget this month.  I spent $31.95, however $6.95 comes from my carry over budget. I did not break the bank but I know I could do better.  I got a pattern from Stoney Creek, a series I am collecting, and a piece fabric from Silkweavers.  I won an auction from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie. That one caught me by surprise, because I usually do not win, lol!

I do have a couple more birthday presents to show.

Heidi send me Mill Hill Midnight Pumpkin and a piece of white lugana fabric.  Thank you Heidi!
Glenna send me a birthday card and 2 skeins Weeks Dye Works in Sweet Potato and Ocean.  She send the card and skeins from the goodness of her heart.  Thank you Glenna!

Now on to the Stitchy news. First is Sunflower Sampler in its frame.  I love how it turned out.

I do have a finish, Little Miss Sunflower.  I love this one too.  I am looking for a sunflower fabric so I can hang it up in my bedroom.  I am having troubles finding some.

I did not stitch on my April Calender girl yet.  The package came in with my birthday packages, and I didn't notice it had arrived until a couple days before my birthday.  I even send a note to my shop owner and to my embarrassment, I had it all this time.  I had started on CCN Snowmen Trio.  I want to get it done this weekend, but I think I had twisted my knee. It has been sore all weekend and walking on it has been torture at times.  I don't think the doctor be able do anything except tell me to stay off my leg.  I decided to update my blog and finish the snowmen tomorrow, then to April girl.

Now a throwback picture.  While I was at my aunt's for Easter, she had a new family picture.  She had found a trio frame, and put my sisters and my high school Senior pictures in the frame.  It came out gorgeous!

That is all for now.  Have a good week!

Hugs,
Vicky

Update and Winner

On the Fright Night Friends,  I stitched the 3 pumpkins.  The two pumpkins on the side of the middle is in Kreinik threads.  It really slowed me down. The sign below the pumpkins are 90% Kreinik.  My goal is to complete the sign this week and hopefully I can pick up speed after the sign is done. The good news is I finished page 2 and now on page 3. :D :D

I have a new start, Little House Needleworks Songs of the Season.  I am stitching the pattern on Hand-Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie Meadow. I just love the colors, a mixture of blue, green, and yellow.  This picture is half of part 1 and was able stitch this part in 2 days. Part 2 came in this past week and there is lot more stitching in that section, so that will take a little longer.

This past weekend one of my groups is having a super Stitching Weekend Challenge, which ends on July 31st.  As of Monday afternoon, I had made 2300 stitches. My original goal was 2500 but I changed it to 5000 last night.  Some of the stitches in the LHN was counted. I have a finish and a new start, my second one this week.

  Long May She Wave

14ct  purple/pinkish aida

gold beads

I will be finishing this into an ornament this week.  I will show the finish piece next week.

I started this piece last night, Sunday. It's a lot of fun. The pattern is from Stitchy Kitty.  I am hoping to finish this piece by Wednesday. I will be giving it to my friend. I don't have any fur babies but I do have a fur nephew and 2 fur nieces. I am thinking personalizing it, but not sure yet.

Are ready for the winner?  Because I am since I am done with my update.  There were only 4 that express interest in the traveling pattern.  I wrote the names on a piece of paper, shook them in a bag, and pulled a name. The winner is.....

Congratulations Meari!!!
Meari will be getting the pattern soon and she will offer it on her blog when it is ready to travel again.

Today my Dad went for his knee replacement surgery. He is doing good.  I talked to him, and despite of the drugs, he is alert and doing great. If no infections appear, he will be going to a rehab on Wednesday  to get use to his new knee.

I hope you have a great week!

Vicky

Traveling Pattern, Giveaway and Update

First a small update on my Fright Night Friends.   I am almost done with page 2.  The ghost is adorable.  This week is the Pumpkin Patch.   Most of it is the Kreinik thread. It is cool it glows in the dark but it can be such a huge pain.

Snowflower Diaries is having a great giveaway.  I did stitch a couple of her designs but I don't see them on my blog.  They were for a Spring exchange a couple months ago.  Or I deleted the post by accident.  Click here to get the information on the giveaway.

A couple months ago I won a traveling pattern and it finally arrived from Moscow,  Russia.

Exchanges & Finishes

I participated in the Home Sweet Home exchange  on the Stitched With Love exchange blog. June was my partner and she stitched me a beautiful pin pilloe.  It is gorgeous.  She included the pattern Dew Drop Fairy. It is a pretty pattern and is part of a series.  Plus there are notecards, olive green thread spool, flower printed tissues, fabric, ribbon saying Home Sweet Home, and a postcard close to her home. Thank you June!
I send to Melanie in the U.K.  I stitched LHN Saltbox Village, and included needles, Heart in Hand Family Medley pattern, hand dyed material I did myself, fat quarters fabric, threads, notecards and beads. I forgot the postcard. Melaine said she liked everything!

In my Stitching Sisters group, Cindy send me this gorgeous sttiched framed piece for the spring exchange.  It came in this huge box and was light as a feather.  I have to add a backing to the stitched piece and lined it better before I hang it up. I love it! Thank you Cindy!

I finished up the Christmas ornament exchange In The Stitcherhood group. I won't say who got which one because they haven't let me know if they received yet, but I can show them off.  They were very quick and I added beads to add some bling to them.

The three ornaments came from Leisure Arts Mini Christmas  Ornaments leaflet. I got the leaflet on clearance at Joanns for $2.97.

Judith from Germany send me this lovely exchange, a pin pillow, purple ribbon, and some floral patterns. Thank you Judith!

Butterfly and Seahorse fobs
I bought these 2 fobs from Mary Louise on Facebook. The picture is not doing justice to the fobs.  They sparkle alot. Seahorse is my favorite aquatic fish. I would love to learn how to make my own fobs. I tried to find instructions on the internet but no luck.

Threads: Crescent Colors Sugar & Spice, Plum Paisley and DMC 209.
I finished Hope for my aunt. I need to finish it but I am debating to frame it or make it into  a pillow. I have Faith and Love to do and I am thinking to do Hope again for myself.

I join a Halloween SAL in my new group on FB, Every Stitch Counts. On Mondays to Wednesdays, I will be stitching Stoney Creek Fright Night Friends.  I dyed the material a light purple. When I took the material out of the dye bath, it was a bright magenta color. I was so happy it lighten up a lot and it became the color I pictured in my head. That rarely happens.  It usually becomes a color hue I don't expect.  As you see, I am all set to go.

Thank you for reading my blog.  I am now exchange free so all my stitching is for me right now. I might be able do more frequent updates instead monthly.  In July, I am celebrating my 5th year blogiversary, and just notice I had 297 followers. I am gathering items for a gift away and there might be 2 if I get over 300 followers by July.

Have a beautiful week!

Hugs,
Vicky
